International Security

Starting in Fall 2015, an interdisciplinary master's program centered on international security preparing students for exciting international careers

  • Our master’s program distinguishes itself through an interdisciplinary approach that draws on four core disciplines: political science, law, economic science, and management.
  • This provides for a broad-based approach to security, to account for the fact that actors are numerous and threats diversified. Let’s mention, for example, tensions arising from and related to access to resources, immigration or economic inequalities.

  • HEI graduates quickly move into positions of responsibility in a wide variety of sectors, notably in diplomatic service and defence, but also in international trade and development, journalism, and teaching.

Two types of specialized master's in international relations

  • Professional master’s, requiring a research paper and internship
  • Research master’s, requiring a thesis

A well-structured program

  • Two years of full-time study (45 credits)
  • Individually tailored qualifying courses available if needed
  • Each student receives support from the program administration to develop a personalized course of study
